Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Man and a Van Canary Wharf in relation to our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation in all forms, and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Man and a Van Canary Wharf provides man and van, removals, and related logistics services to residential and commercial customers. Our activities rely on a combination of in-house staff, agency workers, and third-party suppliers, including vehicle hire companies, fuel providers, equipment suppliers, and other service partners. We understand that some of these sectors can be at higher risk of labour exploitation and we are committed to identifying and addressing any such risks.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. Any form of forced, bonded, or involuntary labour, child labour, or exploitation of vulnerable individuals is wholly unacceptable. This policy applies to all aspects of our operations, including recruitment, employment, and procurement, and extends to all suppliers, contractors, and business partners who work with or on behalf of Man and a Van Canary Wharf.
We expect all individuals and organisations within our supply chain to share this commitment and to conduct their business in a manner that respects the rights and dignity of all people. Where we identify non-compliance or serious concerns, we will take prompt and decisive action, which may include terminating relationships with suppliers or partners.
Due Diligence and Supplier Audits
To support our zero-tolerance stance, we undertake due diligence procedures on key suppliers and third parties. This includes assessing the nature of the services they provide, the geographical locations in which they operate, and any indicators of heightened modern slavery risk.
We are progressively strengthening our supplier approval and review process, which may include requesting evidence of labour standards policies, reviewing working conditions where appropriate, and checking that right-to-work and identification procedures are in place. Where possible, we will conduct audits or structured reviews of higher-risk suppliers to verify compliance with our standards and relevant legislation.
New suppliers are required to confirm that they do not engage in modern slavery or human trafficking and that they comply with applicable employment and human rights laws. Continuing relationships are subject to ongoing monitoring, and suppliers found to be in breach of our requirements will be investigated and may be removed from our approved supplier list.
Training, Awareness, and Reporting Channels
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks among our management and staff. Training and guidance are provided so that team members can recognise warning signs of exploitation, both within our own workforce and in our wider supply chain.
Man and a Van Canary Wharf encourages a culture of openness and accountability. Employees, agency workers, suppliers, and any other stakeholders are encouraged to report concerns about potential modern slavery, human trafficking, or unethical labour practices. Reports can be made to line managers or senior management, and concerns will be taken seriously, treated sensitively, and investigated promptly. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility that requires continual evaluation and improvement. Man and a Van Canary Wharf is committed to regularly reviewing and improving our policies, procedures, and due diligence measures to ensure they remain effective and proportionate to the risks we face.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed at least annually by our management team. As part of this review, we will evaluate the effectiveness of our actions, including supplier audits, training, and reporting processes, and will identify opportunities for further strengthening our approach. Where necessary, we will update this statement to reflect changes in our business operations, legal requirements, or best practice guidance.
This statement represents Man and a Van Canary Wharf’s ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains.
